Q. Had your Td5 tuned?
Q. Does it cough/misfire under hard acceleration?
Q. After it's coughed - does it feel flat?
Q. Did your tuner fit a 'boost box' - but the problem is still there?
Q. Has your tuner removed/unplugged the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor)
Q. Has your tuner drilled holes in your air intake pipe to try and solve it?
Q. Does it keep logging Air Flow Circuit Faults?
Q. Running more than 18 - 19psi boost pressure?
Q. Has your tuner given up, and told you to live with it?

If you've answered yes to one or more of the above then keep reading......

The first 2 channel adjustable  'Anti Limit Box'
for Td5 Defender and Discovery.

A unique product from IRB Developments
(but probably soon to be copied by other 'tuning experts')

Q. How is this different from the normal 'Boost Box' that I've seen?

A. A Boost Box (well, all the boost boxes on the market) only look at the signal from the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor, if this signal gets to high, the ECU will log over boost fault and cut fuelling.  You need a Boost Box to prevent this when you increase the turbo boost pressure.  A boost box is pre-set - but every car responds slightly differently - so some cars will respond better to a boost box than others.

However, this is only part of the story and hence why IRB have developed a fully adjustable 2 channel Anti Limit Box.

The second sensor we need to consider is the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor.

By the nature of tuning, as we add more fuel, we need more air.  But this demand for air can cause the MAF sensor to trip, which causes a Td5 to misfire/cough. On some Td5's this WILL put them into a limp home mode, and performance will be flat.  It will also log a Air Flow Circuit Fault on the ECU.

Q. I have a Stage 1 remap on my Defender - will I need a Anti Limiter Box?
A. No.  The normal settings for a Stage 1 Remap will not cause over boost, and it's demand for air will not trip the MAF sensor.

But if you are running more than 19psi (perhaps with one of our Variable Geometry Turbos - or a Hybrid Turbo), with strong mapping (stage 2 upwards), and you get a misfire/cough and then reduced power under hard acceleration then you need a 2 channel Anti Limiter Box.

The IRB developments Anti Limiter Box comes in two versions:

Pre-Set - none user definable.
This comes already set-up for a plug and play installation. It will be setup to allow a Td5 to get close to the sensor limits, but still far enough away from the max limit to prevent misfires etc etc. This means that it will provide a usable, safe solution, but will be slightly down on what is obtainable.  As a mail order solution, it will work very well and keep performance linear throughout the rev range... but is not for the customer that wants every last bit of performance.

Comes with Land Rover Type Connectors for a simple installation.

Fully Adjustable Version.
This is the all singing, all dancing version that allows pin point accuracy on setting signal limits to ensure that you get the best possible performance and drivability from your Td5. The adjustable version, is just like our bespoke mapping, where it can be set up exactly to match the vehicle and the vehicle specification.

Note: If set up incorrectly your Td5 may go into Limp Home Mode, it will log numerous fault codes, and the engine warning light may illuminate.  You could cause permanent damage.  It must be setup using diagnostic equipment.

Because of this, the adjustable version is only available as a supply, setup and fit solution and must be fitted by IRB developments.  Either in our workshops, or we can travel to you.
